What do kitchen moths (food moths) look like?
We often notice flying insects in the kitchen or larvae crawling in kitchen cabinets. These are, of course, moths, but not the same kind that infest our clothes; therefore, to get rid of them from the kitchen, you should use a product specifically designed to combat food moths. These insects can reproduce very quickly, contaminating food and posing a threat to human health.
Adults are usually brownish-gray and move quite slowly, most often toward light. The larvae, on the other hand, are usually white or yellow, though greenish ones also occur. Depending on their stage of development, products are available on the market that target fully grown moths as well as eggs or larvae. Pheromone traps for food moths are exceptionally effective; they attract and neutralize all male moths, thereby preventing new pests from multiplying.

Effective Remedies for Kitchen Moths (Food Moths)
Traps for food moths are necessary because it’s hard to avoid these insects even in a spotlessly clean kitchen. They usually appear in the home after being brought in from the store on infested products. It’s not easy to prevent this, because they’re hard to spot—and sometimes it’s downright impossible—so our only option is to combat them with the right products. These insects thrive particularly well in mills and food storage facilities, and their eggs then find their way into food—which is how they end up on store shelves and in our homes. Plastic or paper packaging poses no problem for them—they easily escape from it in search of new food sources. There is a group of foods that particularly attracts these tiny creatures: flour, pasta, breakfast cereals, grains, and even dried fruits and nuts. An effective kitchen moth repellent from panko® will prevent them from quickly spreading to other items in our kitchen.
Using traps for food moths
Once you spot kitchen moths, you should act as quickly as possible to prevent further damage. Inspect all food items—flour, pasta, rice, etc.—and discard any that are infested. Next, apply an effective moth control treatment to eliminate both the larvae and adult moths. By choosing, for example, a panko® brand pheromone trap for food moths, you’ll successfully eliminate the adult moths, which, lured by the pheromone, will stick to the trap plate (this is what’s known as a moth trap). It’s also a good idea to thoroughly clean all cabinets before setting out the food moth treatment—this will help eliminate developing larvae hidden in the nooks and crannies of the cabinets.
Pheromone traps for food moths will help you get rid of this persistent problem quickly, easily, and effectively. It’s best to act immediately upon noticing the first kitchen moths to save as many food items as possible from infestation. On the panko® website, you’ll find a wide selection of reliable food moth control products.
