Bed Bug Traps

Bed bugs in an apartment building can be a real nuisance—they bite, leaving itchy marks, can spread diseases, and are difficult to get rid of. They usually live in the darkest corners of an apartment, and they particularly like mattresses and bedding. They’re active at night and very small, which is why it often takes a long time to spot them. If you suspect or have confirmed their presence, the best solution is an effective bed bug trap.

What are bed bugs?

Bed bugs (Cimex lectularius) are small parasitic insects. They feed exclusively on the blood of humans and animals. Adult bed bugs range in size from one to seven millimeters—which is why they’re often so hard to spot. They have flattened bodies that are brown or reddish-brown in color and three pairs of legs. Young bed bugs are lighter in color, making them even harder to spot. Bed bugs have no wings and therefore cannot fly. They also cannot jump, but they are fast and can climb vertical surfaces with ease.

Bed bugs in the home can hide even in the most unexpected places and nooks and crannies, but they most often choose furniture—especially beds. They like to live on wood, paper, and fabrics. They can enter a home along with used items or clothing that hasn’t been properly disinfected. They bite at night, leaving behind several red spots in one area.

It’s worth remembering that bed bugs in an apartment don’t mean poor hygiene. Even a brief stay in a place where they’re present—or close contact with someone carrying them on their clothing—is enough to bring them home. These parasitic insects move around easily, which is why bed bugs in an apartment building are often a problem for all residents.

How does a bedbug trap work?

These tiny insects are not only hard to spot, but also exceptionally resilient to adverse conditions—they can withstand both high and low temperatures, and are unaffected by detergents and many pesticides. They can survive for up to several months without food. For this reason, if you suspect they’re present, you should invest in bed bug traps for your home.

The T-Trap bed bug trap works very simply yet effectively. Insects lured by the attractant enter the trap, and others get stuck to the sticky surface. The trap’s special, modern design ensures that captured bed bugs cannot escape. Importantly, the specially formulated attractant and adhesive are non-toxic and contain no ingredients harmful to humans.

Bed bugs thrive in apartments and multiply rapidly, which is why a prompt response is so important. Bed bug traps allow you to quickly and effectively identify the problem and eliminate it.

Where should you place a bed bug trap?

For the panko® T-TRAP bed bug trap to work as effectively as possible, it must be placed in the right location. If you’ve spotted the bugs or signs of their presence—such as dark red or black droppings or molted skins—in a specific area of your home, that’s the best place to set the traps. However, if you only suspect the presence of these unwanted guests, it’s a good idea to place the bed bug traps in the most vulnerable areas.

Bed bugs in the home tend to congregate around beds, storage containers and linen chests, as well as upholstered furniture—such as sofas, couches, and armchairs. Because they’re nocturnal, they prefer places where we sleep or rest, though they can even be found under wallpaper, in floor cracks, and on clothing. It is therefore best to place bed bug traps primarily next to the legs of the bed, under furniture, inside bedding storage containers, and in the closet.

Bed bugs’ nocturnal lifestyle and the painless nature of their bites mean that they often go unnoticed for a long time. They target exposed areas while you sleep—the face, neck, arms, hands, and feet. Itchy bumps appear on the skin a day or two after a bite, which is why people often mistake them for bites from other insects. Properly placed bed bug traps effectively lure them, allowing you to quickly identify the problem.
