The traps emit green fluorescent light that attracts insects, and are also enriched with a natural scent attractant for spiders contained in the glue.

The traps are designed for monitoring the presence of spiders, mainly species common in Poland such as the domestic house spider, giant house spider, cellar spider, mouse spider and the common garden cross spiders.

It is worth adding that spiders are invasive creatures and are therefore classed as pests. They do not create beneficial ecosystems in the way that ants do, for example. They only leave dirty cobwebs behind and increase bacterial decomposition of the flies and other insects caught in their webs.

Spider traps panko^® also randomly catch other harmful insects – in particular silverfish, blow flies, greenbottle flies, clothes moths, flying beetles (active at night, e.g. the drugstore beetle) and western conifer seed bugs. They catch intruders, not your conscience – because there are no harmful chemicals.

How it works: The monitoring traps are based on two systems: green light emission (green fluorescent light attracts insects and is perceived by spiders as information about where insects gather) and emission of the scent of the attractant contained in the glue. Each of the systems remains effective independently of the other. Order some peace of mind – with a double lure.

For maximum effectiveness of the monitoring traps, place them where the light points of the trap stay in contact with sunlight, even reflected light (under a table, in the corner of a room, at the edge under a wardrobe). Direct exposure to sunlight for 10–15 minutes is enough for them to glow for at least 2 days (48 hours).

Important: The traps are fitted with an additional element – a grip that makes it easy both to place and to remove the trap from under furniture (Fig. 4-5-6). This handle is also useful for people with arachnophobia who want to stay as far away as possible from the caught spiders.

Shelf life: The traps are covered with a strong glue that is resistant to factors such as sunlight or raised humidity. The effective working time of the traps once set out depends on how dusty the conditions are. Under standard conditions the traps stay effective for 1 month.

How to use: Remove the paper protecting the adhesive surface and fold the trap into the shape shown in the diagram (Fig. 1-2-3). Place the folded trap in the chosen location, ideally in the corner of a room, on a windowsill or under furniture – but in that case try to place it close to the edge so that you have easy access to it. 

Treat a trap filled with spiders as ordinary municipal waste.
